Pakistan is facing an escalating water crisis due to rapid population growth, declining groundwater levels, weak water governance, and recurring floods that contaminate water sources and displace communities. These challenges are pushing the country toward absolute water scarcity, leaving millions without access to safe drinking water and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and malnutrition, particularly among vulnerable populations. In response to this pressing emergency, Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) has taken a significant step by installing more than 1,000 water pumps in water-stressed regions across Pakistan. These initiatives have provided thousands of households with immediate access to clean and reliable drinking water, greatly improving daily living conditions in underserved areas. The installation of water pumps has also reduced the burden on women and children, who previously had to travel long distances to collect water. By minimizing reliance on contaminated sources, the project has contributed to better health, hygiene, and overall well-being within local communities. Through its clean water initiatives, including over 618 water pumps installed nationwide in the most affected regions, MWF continues to play a vital role in addressing Pakistan’s water crisis. The foundation remains committed to ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water and building healthier, more secure futures for communities at risk.
